As part of our commitment to women and youth empowerment, this International Youth Day celebration, we are giving the reins to the vibrant young people around us.
In line with our thematic area, Youth Empowerment, we are challenging our volunteers and interns to take charge of this year’s celebration. Through an open call for proposals, we allowed them to identify issues affecting young people. The challenge included the need to design and implement an event that reflects the struggles of youth in society, their passion for change, and the development of youth potential within and outside their communities.
This initiative is meant to not just celebrate the efforts of young people but also reinforce our belief in strengthening societies through the youth by allowing them to take responsibility and own their narratives. By doing this, we aim to foster leadership among them, build confidence, and promote active participation in community development.
We are excited to be sharing some highlights on how the events unfold towards the day of the celebration. From radio discussions to community engagements, these subsequent days will reflect the capabilities of these vibrant young individuals, and we are excited to take this journey with them.
Young people are not just tools or beneficiaries but passionate individuals filled with a zeal to transform their lives if given the opportunity. This year, we are not just celebrating participation; we are celebrating the resilience and passion of our youth.
