URBANET, in collaboration with Plan International Ghana under the WISE Project, is committed to enhancing economic empowerment, well-being, and inclusive economic growth for women in Ghana. Focusing on supporting smallholder women farmers along the soybean value chain, these organizations are making strides to help women take full advantage of the cropping season.
Working closely with the Department of Agriculture in Tolon and Kumbungu, the project has successfully trained over 2,500 smallholder women farmers in soybean production and post-harvest practices. This training will equip women with the knowledge and skills needed to improve their yield and ensure sustainable farming practices.
In addition to the training, the women are provided with improved soybean seeds, ensuring they have access to high-quality inputs that can boost their productivity. Moreover, the project is establishing links to sustainable markets, enabling these women farmers to sell their produce at fair prices and secure a reliable income.
This initiative is not only empowering women but also contributing to the broader goal of economic development and food security in the region. By supporting smallholder women farmers, URBANET and Plan International Ghana are fostering an environment where women can thrive economically and contribute significantly to their communities.
